Your Guide to the Fit For a King Festival

A Long Weekend of Wine, Food and Music in the Heart of the King Valley

If you're heading to Bluestone Ridge over the King's Birthday long weekend, you’ve timed your visit perfectly. The Fit For a King festival is one of the most anticipated events on the King Valley calendar, and it's all happening just minutes from your cabin.

Whether it’s your first time in the region or you’re a returning guest, this guide will help you plan the perfect weekend of sipping, snacking, and soaking up everything the valley has to offer.

What is the Fit For a King Festival?

Held every year across the King's Birthday long weekend, Fit For a King is a celebration of the rich Italian heritage, wine, and warm hospitality that the King Valley is famous for. Eight local wineries open their doors for two days of festivities, featuring:

  • Wine tastings, including new and limited releases

  • Live music and entertainment

  • Authentic Italian food and seasonal dishes

  • Family-friendly activities and relaxed outdoor vibes

Each winery brings its own flavour to the event, so no two stops are the same.

When & Where

Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th June 2025 (Dal Zottos is also open on Friday 6th)
Across eight participating wineries in the King Valley, all just a short drive from Bluestone Ridge.

Participating wineries include:

  • Brown Brothers

  • King River Estate

  • Pizzini Wines

  • John Gehrig Wines

Each location offers its own program of tastings, entertainment and menus. You can pick one or two to settle into for the day, or plan a route and make a few stops across the weekend.

How to Attend

You’ll need a festival ticket, which gives you access to all participating wineries. Tickets can be purchased online through the Wines of the King Valley website, and you’ll receive a festival glass for tastings as you go.

Pro tip: Some wineries are walk-in friendly, while others may require bookings for lunch or special tastings, so be sure to check each winery’s page for their individual program.

What to Expect at the Wineries

  • Wood-fired pizzas, house-made pasta, arancini, and Italian-style feasts

  • Live bands and acoustic sets in vineyard gardens

  • Prosecco spritz stations and food pairings
